More About Mariah

Alongside my professional work, I can be found puttering in my garden or hiking and river hopping in the mountains. I love being in nature and spending time with animals due to their amazing capacity to co-regulate our nervous systems. I am also committed to the ongoing work of un-learning the ways in which systems of oppression keep us engaged in urgency and grind culture and strive to value slow and sustainable ways of living. I am grateful to live, work, rest and play on Treaty 7 territory, with my husband and our puppy Rumi. I acknowledge all Indigenous, First Nations, Metis and Inuit people as the rightful keepers and stewards of the land.

“It has been an honour to travel alongside Mariah in her incorporation of her clinical knowledge and practice for all equity-denied groups and to witness the pure power of social justice in action. I have grown from being in the presence of Mariah's ethical use of power for change. Our profession is in gifted hands with Mariah. She embodies the Jane Addams quote that fronts the text "Social Work Ethics: Progressive, Practical and Relational Approaches": "The good we secure for ourselves is precarious and uncertain until it is secured for all of us and incorporated into our common life"
